Email-capable paper?

One of the up and coming technologies in the past year has been e Ink, which drives the Amazon Kindle ultra-thin display. But not only are e Ink displays thin, they’re also flexible. And now they’re touch-sensitive. Think 1mm thin iPhone you can roll up. Or, tablet PC that rolls up into a little tube when you’re done with it. Or imagine having your newspaper electronically delivered to one of these, and if you like an article, you can tap it, select it, and have it emailed to your friends. The possibilities are endless.

I wrote earlier this week about how our society probably isn’t ready to embrace a paperless revolution yet. But that doesn’t mean the flexible touch-sensitive display isn’t incredibly cool, and it certainly doesn’t mean that we should stop continuing to develop these interesting technologies.

There’s no contradiction here… Apple steals with subtility and adds a lot to it, the others use copy machines!

Images are magnificent on it, if the publisher on the Kindle DX arranges them properly.

The Kindle DX was not an obvious advance for me, but two features placed me over the edge: the larger screen, and the native PDF reader. I now have the Kindle DX in my hands. Sites like http://amazonkindledeals.com/store/ do help with the decision making!

Apple has once again built a product that looks nice and feels great in the hand , and the well-known user interface, lent from the iPod touch and the iPhone, it is perfectly suited to the big screen. My first impressions of the iPad are totally positive, the new iPad whizzes along, opening applications, resizing web pages, and zooming in and out of maps almost instantaneously. I´m still waiting to test more, but the first tests are amazing. Best Regards, Dreama Hobart
