Microsoft Hohm steps into smart homes

Microsoft’s energy management tool, Hohm, which launched as a beta this week, is a clear play to help consumers save energy. Log into the Hohm web site, enter your ZIP code and other details about your residence, and the service predicts your home energy use (or links to your historical energy use via your utility) and suggests ways to curb it.

Microsoft’s foray into the home energy market is an indicator that the smart home market is ready to go mainstream. Incidentally, I am a big proponent of smart homes and going green (if you haven’t noticed from a lot of my other posts). I have been building a website on smart homes and home automation at the Smart Home Automation Guide. Check it out, if you please.
