Project Better Place hopes to make the world, well, a better place

The electric car industry is rising quickly as leading manufacturer plan to produce tens of thousands of vehicles a year. Better Place, in cooperation with Renault plans a massive electric car production.

In what looks like a monumental partnership, Project Better Place is the global provider of electric vehicle services to accelerate the transition to sustainability. The company promotes reduction of oil dependency by setting up electric vehicle infrastructures.

Renault’s all- electric vehicles will be able to meet zero emission objectives and will perform like the 1.6 liter gasoline engine. They will be using lithium-ion batteries for increased range and durability.

The objective is to sell up to 160,000 electric cars yearly throughout Denmark and Israel starting 2011. How will it work? Renault will provide all the vehicles, Better Place will provide all the battery recharging stations nationwide and the government will help customers through tax incentives.
