August 2009 – For the first time in 4 years, Sony Corporation’s Walkman digital music player outsold APPLE Inc.’s iPod in Japan. The Tokyo-based Japanese electronic research company (BCN Inc.) said as of August 30, Sony’s market share of its portable music players climbed to 43% which is just slightly higher than Apple’s 42.1%.
